Andrius Gedgaudas scored in the 14th minute to guide Lithuania past Poland 1-0 Tuesday, handing the Poles their second loss in three World Cup preparation matches.

Poland will play Ecuador, Costa Rica and host Germany in the first round of the June 9-July 9 World Cup.

Lithuania's Valdas Trakys flicked a long throw-in to Andrius Gedgaudas, who volleyed the ball past Poland goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek from 5 yards to put the visitors ahead.

Poland's best chance in the first half came in the fifth minute. Kamil Kosowski pushed toward goal from the left wing, but his shot from the top of the penalty area sailed just over the bar.

The Poles attacked throughout the second half, but struggled to mount any serious threat.

Poland midfielder Sebastian Mila gave the home side its best opportunity in the 47th minute, floating a cross in from the left side to an unmarked Tomasz Frankowski, but the Polish striker shot over the bar.

"It's clear that some of our players are not in good form," Poland coach Pawel Janas said on state television after the match. "It's necessary to have more time to work with the players. I've only had six days together with them this year."

The Poles lost to the United States 1-0 and beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in March in their only games since qualifying for the World Cup.

Poland's next tuneup match is May 14 against the Faeroe Islands.
